I am writing to apply for the position of Healthcare Assistant. I am highly motivated to work in healthcare and to provide safe, compassionate, and person-centred care. I have Nine months of hands-on experience working as a Healthcare Assistant at Redcroft Residential Home in Colwyn Bay (ARG Business Associates Limited). Also I work at Dol Awel Residential Home. This is also part of (ARG Business Associates Limited).During this time, I supported residents with a wide range of care needs.I am registered in Social Care Wales.

I am a caring, patient, and reliable individual. I understand that the role of a Healthcare Assistant is essential to patient wellbeing. I take pride in supporting people with dignity, respect, and kindness.

In my role at Redcroft Residential Home, I worked closely with residents who required support with their daily living activities. My duties included assisting with personal care, such as washing, dressing, medication, toileting, and maintaining personal hygiene. I always ensured that residents felt comfortable and respected during care delivery. I paid close attention to privacy and dignity at all times.

I also assisted residents with mobility. This included helping them to move safely, supporting them while walking, and using mobility aids when required. I followed manual handling procedures carefully to ensure the safety of both residents and myself. I understood the importance of encouraging independence while providing support when needed.

Monitoring vital signs was a regular part of my role. I measured and recorded blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates. I ensured that readings were accurate and documented clearly. I reported any concerns or changes in condition to senior staff promptly. This helped ensure early intervention and safe care.

I supported residents with eating and drinking. I assisted during mealtimes and encouraged adequate nutrition and hydration. I followed care plans closely and reported any difficulties, such as reduced appetite or swallowing concerns. I understand the importance of nutrition in maintaining health and wellbeing.

I have experience supporting individuals with dementia. I understand that dementia affects each person differently. I used patience, reassurance, and clear communication when providing care. I adapted my approach based on the resident’s mood and level of understanding. I aimed to reduce anxiety and promote a calm and safe environment.

I also supported residents with physical disabilities. I ensured that their individual needs were met and that appropriate equipment was used. I encouraged independence while offering support when required. I listened carefully to residents and respected their choices.

In addition, I supported individuals with mental health conditions. I understand the importance of empathy and active listening. I remained calm and supportive during challenging situations. I followed care plans and escalated concerns when necessary.

Communication is a key strength of mine. I communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and colleagues. I take time to listen to patients and understand their concerns. I believe listening is essential to providing effective care.

I worked closely with Deputy manager,senior carers, and other healthcare professionals. I followed instructions carefully and asked questions when unsure. I shared relevant information during handovers to ensure continuity of care. I understand that good teamwork improves patient outcomes.

I also communicated with family members when appropriate. I remained professional and respectful at all times. I understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality when sharing information

Accurate documentation is an important part of safe care. I am experienced in using electronic health record systems to record patient information. I documented care provided, vital signs, and any changes in condition. I ensured records were clear, accurate, and completed on time.

I understand that good documentation supports continuity of care and protects patient safety. I always followed data protection and confidentiality policies when handling patient information.

I am also proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel. I used these tools to support administrative tasks, manage schedules, and track information. I am comfortable learning new systems and technology when required.

I have a strong understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries. I understand the importance of protecting sensitive patient information. I strictly follow organisational policies and ethical guidelines.

I always behave in a professional manner at work. I am punctual, reliable, and well-organised. I follow instructions and take responsibility for my duties. I understand that Healthcare Assistants must be trustworthy and dependable.

I also understand safeguarding principles. I am aware of the importance of reporting concerns promptly. I know that protecting vulnerable individuals is a shared responsibility.

I follow infection prevention and control procedures carefully. I practice good hand hygiene and use personal protective equipment correctly. I understand the importance of maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.

I follow health and safety procedures at all times. I report hazards or risks promptly. I understand that safety is essential in healthcare settings.

Before working in healthcare, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2018 from St. Thomas Engineering College, Kerala University, India. I then worked as a Civil Engineer for several years. I later completed a postgraduate degree in Engineering Management at Middlesex University in London, achieving a Merit in October 2024.

Although this background is different from healthcare, it has given me valuable transferable skills. I developed strong organisational and time management skills. I learned to work under pressure and meet deadlines. I gained experience following procedures and maintaining accurate records.

I also developed teamwork and communication skills by working with diverse teams. I learned the importance of responsibility, attention to detail, and accountability. These skills support me in my role as a Healthcare Assistant.

My postgraduate studies included training aligned with PRINCE2 project management principles. This strengthened my ability to plan tasks, manage workloads, and follow structured processes. These skills help me remain organised and reliable in a healthcare environment.

I am particularly interested in working as a Healthcare Assistant within the NHS. I admire the NHS values of compassion, respect, and commitment to high-quality care. I want to contribute positively to patient care and support healthcare teams.

I am motivated by helping others and making a meaningful difference. I find healthcare work rewarding and fulfilling. I enjoy supporting people during difficult times and helping them feel safe and cared for.

I am committed to continuous learning and development. I am willing to undertake training and expand my skills. I am open to feedback and eager to improve my practice.

I believe this role will allow me to grow both professionally and personally. I am enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced healthcare environment and contributing positively to patient outcomes.
